Alex was a collector of friends and experiences, the more diverse the better. Alex wanted to see the world—and did. He spent a summer in China with a tour group. He visited Hawaii, New York, and California. He vacationed with his family and friends in Florida and spent time on Cape Cod. He was an explorer at heart. Alex was a practiced debater, often stubborn, but also open-minded. His family cheered him when he crossed the stage in a cap and gown at the University of Texas at Dallas last year, but his more meaningful education took place outside the classroom, not in it.
He was restless in the best ways possible. He had a passion for food—eating it and critiquing it and sharing it. He cared deeply for his family—even as he challenged them, even as they challenged him. He and his dogs Molly and Patrick were members of a mutual admiration society. He treasured them and tended to them and revealed himself quietly in the ways he protected them. Alex will be dearly missed, but his gentle spirit, boundless heart, and loving nature will live on in those he touched.
